Island portrait | vibrant coast

. The old boat sits quietly at the edge of the beach, a relic of a bygone era, fully surrendered to the relentless forces of time and tide. Its hull once painted a bright blue, is now a patchwork of chipped and faded colours, bearing the scars of many seasons under the unyielding sun and the corrosive kiss of salty sea air.  Half-buried in the warm, golden sand, it leans at a slight angle, as if weary from years of waves lapping against its sides. The rotting wood creaks softly in the breeze, telling stories of the adventures it may have once embarked on—fishing trips, journeys across vast waters, and perhaps even the laughter of children playing nearby.  Now, it stands as a poignant reminder of the passage of time, inviting curious passersby to reflect on the memories it holds and the tides that have carried it away from its original purpose. Each grain of sand and each ripple in the surf whispers tales of the past, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the adventures that were an...

Virbrant autumn | Seasonal change.

A tapestry of magical, vibrant colours unfolds. The natural, traditional cycle moves forward. The changing chemistry within the tree leaves signals birds to start their migration.     Autumn trees are a splendid display of nature's artistry, their leaves turning vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow before they fall. This seasonal change is not just a visual treat but also a complex biological process. As daylight shortens and temperatures drop, trees begin to break down chlorophyll, the green pigment that allows them to photosynthesize. This reveals the other pigments present in the leaves, such as carotenoids and anthocyanins, which are responsible for the beautiful autumnal colours. This period also marks an important phase in the life cycle of trees, as they prepare to conserve energy for the coming winter. The fallen leaves provide a rich layer of organic matter that will decompose and enrich the soil, supporting a new cycle of growth in the spring.
